THE CHRISTIAN FAMILY
The Family is the foundation for the home and society.
God created the Family in the book of Genesis.
God did not create the Church until the book of Acts thousands of years later.
In order to have strong Churches we need strong Families.
Deuteronomy 6:7 says we should teach God’s Word to our Children diligently
in our house, and when we lie down and when we rise up.
In other words all the time.
We should teach God’s Word to our Children by precept and example.
Psalms 127:3-5 says that Children are our heritage and reward and
Happy,Blessed and Fortunate are we when we have Children.
God has billions of Children and he knows how to be a Successful Parent.
Here are some of his Parenting Instructions:
Proverbs 13:24 says he that spares the rod hates his son.
Well my Dad loved me!
He never spared the rod. When I was a child he always disciplined me.
I joke about it now. I think he loved me too much!
However it kept me on the straight and narrow and it gave me a reverence for God and my Parents.
It kept me out of trouble and that is why I am serving God right now as a Pastor!
Proverbs 17:6 says our Grandchildren are our Crown!
My wife and I have two Beautiful Daughters and two grandchildren one Girl and one Boy and God says they are our Crown!
Proverbs 22:6 says to Train up a Child in the way he should go and when he is old he will now depart from it.
We cannot allow our Children just to do what ever they want to do.
This verse directs us to Train them. Give them instructions and guidance on what they should do.
Proverbs 22:15 says Foolishness is in the heart of a Child but the rod of discipline will drive it far from them.
Proverbs 23:13-14 says that the rod of discipline will deliver them from hell.
Proverbs 29:15 says a Child left alone will bring shame to his Parents.
My wife and I never had any major problems with raising our Children.
You cannot put a Adult head on a Child. Meaning that a Child will act like a Child.
However, our Children never made foolish decisions like getting involved with drugs or getting pregnant out of wedlock.
They made quality decisions and we are very proud of our Children .
When they left our home it was to get Married to their Husbands.
They did not leave for any other reasons.
Ephesians 6:1-4 says Children should obey their Parents in the Lord and it will be well with them and they will live long on the earth.
My mother would quote that to me from time to time.
In addition to this scripture she would add “I brought you into this world and I can take you out”!
That helped me stay on the straight and narrow also!
Colossians 3:18-21 is God’s Secret for the Successful Christian Family.
He says Wives respect your Husband, Husbands love your Wife and Children obey your Parents.
If everyone in the home will just do what God says here you will have a Sweet Home!
In closing, God says Fathers don’t provoke your Children to anger. The Amplified Version says do not break their spirit.
Isn’t it interesting how the Holy Spirit focuses on the Father here and not the Mother?
This is because many Fathers are too hard on their Children. That is why God calls out the Father.
Of course, all of this is easier said than done.
However, if we are first of all are committed to God and committed to his Word and our Family.
With the help of the Holy Spirit we can do what His Word says and we can have a Loving Christian Family!
