Any good Father or Mother wants to provide for their Children. God is the Father of Spirits according to Hebrews 12:9. So he is the Greatest Father of all. God wants to provide for us his Children.
God has made provisions in His word to provide for us. These provisions come through the channel of Tithes and Offerings.
A tithe is defined as a tenth of your income. The original tithe was in the Garden of Eden. In Genesis chapter 3 it talks about when God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden and provided EVERYTHING they needed. God said do NOT touch the fruit in the center of the garden. The fruit in the center of the garden was the Tithe. That was God’s and they were not supposed to touch it.
We know they touched it and all hell broke loose and sin entered into the world. Romans 5:12 says for as by as one man sin entered into the world.
The most common passage about tithing is found in Malachi chapter 3. Verse 6 says I am the Lord and I change not. So for our finances to change we need to change. Verse 7 says you are gone away from my ordinances. So tithing is an ordinance of God. Verse 8 says Will a man rob God? How can we God rob? We rob him of opportunities to bless us. Verse 9 says you are cursed with a curse. If we do not obey God in tithing this verse is saying we are cursed financially. Verse 10 says Bring ye all the tithes in the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, and there shall not be room enough to receive it. Verse 11 and I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground. Tithing opens up financial blessing to you and protects your money from the devil stealing it because God says he will rebuke the devourer for your sake.
Another promise of the Blessing of the Lord is in Luke 6:38 it says: Give, and it shall be given unto you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over! Shall men give into your bosom. This is a Offering. An offering is over and above a tithe. A tithe is ten percent of your income. A offering is whatever amount you want to give. The more you give the more God will give to you.
Another promise of the Blessing of the Lord is in Second Corinthians 9:6-8 says: He that sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly. He that sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully. Every man according as he purposes in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loves a cheerful giver: And God is able to make all grace abound toward you: that you always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work.
This passage shows we set the level of how God blesses us. God does not set the level. It is up to us! It has been said if you use a teaspoon to give with. God will bless you in teaspoon sizes. If you give in gallon sizes God will bless you in gallon sizes. If you give in truck sizes God will bless you in truck sizes!
There are many other Promises in the Word about the Blessing of the Lord. These are a just a few.
We need to settle it in our heart and mind. Is the Blessing of the Lord Biblical? It has been stated that God talks about money in the Bible over 2,300 times. Yes, it is Biblical! If God talks about it that much obviously it is Biblical. After God had created mankind in Genesis 1:28 it says, HE BLESSED THEM! The very first thing God had on his mind for mankind was He wanted them Blessed! In Genesis 12:1-3 God says, to Abraham…”I will bless you, and make your name great: and you shall be a blessing; and I will bless them that bless you, and I will curse them that curse you: and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed.” If you are a believer God has given us the Blessing of Abraham. Galatians 3:14 says, …”the Blessing of Abraham has come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ: that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
Then in Genesis 26:1-14 God tells Isaac do not go to Egypt but stay in the land of Gerar. Egypt had all the food and provision. Gerar was full of famine. Why does God tell Isaac to stay in a town full of famine? God says to him in verse 3 because “I will be with you and I will BLESS you.” If God is with you and says He will bless you well that changes everything. In verse 12 it says, Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year a HUNDREDFOLD; and the Lord Blessed him.
In Genesis 28:10-22 Jacob has a dream and sees a ladder going up to heaven and sees angels ascending and descending on it. When he wakes up he makes a vow to God to give him a tithe of all that he has. In Genesis 30:43 it says, …Jacob increased exceedingly…
In Genesis 39:1-6 it says the Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man and the Lord blessed the Egyptians house for Joseph’s sake and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he did.
God blessed Abraham, Isaac, Jacob ,Joseph, Job, David, Solomon. Every man that “God was with.”
He Blessed them! And the Great News is YOU ARE NEXT God wants to BLESS YOU with the Blessing of the Lord!
