The greek word Love is Agape. It is a completely unconditional love. This is the love that God loves us with. Romans 5:8 says God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
Before we accepted Jesus as our Savior. And we wanted nothing to do with God. Jesus still died for us. That is unconditional love!
The greatest commandment is to Love God with all our heart, soul and mind According to Jesus in Matthew 22:37-40. And the second commandment is to love our neighbor as yourself. And on these two commandments HANG all the law and the prophets. What does that mean?
The law was the first five books of the bible also called the pentateuch. The pentateuch was written by Moses a Prophet of God. All the other Old Testament books were written by other Prophets. The New Testaments books were written mainly by the disciples of the Lord Jesus. All of the books of the bible are the Promises of God. God is saying in the above scripture that all 7000 promises of God in the Bible are HANGING on how you keep his Love Commandments.
We love God because he first loved us according to First John 4:19. Secondly, all that God wants to do for you is HANGING on how you love God and love others. The Love of God should be your primary motive in every thought, word and deed.
Mark 12:30 says we should love God with all our heart, soul, mind and STRENGTH. Mark added the word STRENGTH. So our love for God should go beyond our heart, soul and mind and extend to Every effort and deed in our life.
John 13:1-17 is the story of Jesus washing the disciples feet. During the days of the Gospel they only had dusty dirt roads. Most of the men wore sandals. So their feet were dirty and dusty. Yet Jesus stooped down and washed their dirty, dusty and stinking feet! What an act of humility and love!
He knew Judas was going to betray him yet he washed Judas feet also. He treated Judas the same way he treated all the other disciples. THAT IS UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!
That is the love God wants us to show others!
In Romans 5:1-8 it says in verse 5 that the Love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts. At the New Birth when you accept Jesus as your Savior.
Love and all the fruits of the spirit that are listed in Galatians 5:22-23 were released into your spirit. So whether you feel it or not the Love of God is in you if you are born again.
Then in verse 8 it says while we were sinners Christ died for us. WOW! That is Unconditional Love! When we were sinners and we wanted nothing to do with God.
Yet he still died for us!
In Romans 8:35-39 it says nothing shall separate us from the Love of God.
In Romans 12:9-21 are many exhortations to walk in Love.
Romans 13:8-10 says we should owe no man anything except Love.
First Corinthians 13 has been called The Love Chapter because the entire Chapter is talking about God’s Love.
Verses 4-8 in the Amplifed Version it says:
